On April 15, 2016 , NATCA requested a briefing on the changes to the process for distributing FAA paper ch arts and other related products. On April 12, 2016 , NATCA requested a briefing on eInvoicing for the Procurement Community. We are currently waiting for a response from the Agency regarding our request. GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT CONGRESSIONAL SCHEDULE : The House and Sena te are both in session during the week of April 18. SENATE PASSES FAA REAUTHORIZATION BILL : On April 19, the Senate passed its version of a long - term FAA reauthorization bill, titled the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2006. The Senate used the shell of an un related House - passed bill (H.R. 636) as the legislative vehicle to consider the FAA reauthorization bill (S.2658) on the floor. The bill was passed by a vote of 95 - 3, with Sens. Boxer, Ru bio, and Lee voting against it. A package of bipartisan, non - controve rsial amendments was ultimately not considered due to the objection of one Senator that therefore held up the entire package. As a result, the Senate proceeded to vote on final passage of the bill without consideration of those amendments. The bill now hea ds to the House, where we still have work to do when the chamber take s up FAA Reauthorization again. Background : A short - term extension (H.R. 4721) is currently in place to extend aviation programs and excise taxes through July 15, 2016. The extension give s both chambers time to decide how to move forward with long - term reauthorization of the FAA.
